Vintage Everything

Meet Rachel. After getting to know her over the past year I am convinced she was born in the wrong decade. She has a love of everything vintage. She chose the cutest vintage inspired clothes for her session. Even the location was perfectly vintage, Antiques Roseville in New Iberia, La. It had the perfect props to use during her session. An adorable hat and tea set and table. It truly felt like we transported to a different time. Check out some of our faves.

If you could only pick one thing to have for the rest of your life, what would it be?

One materialistic thing would be shopping or movies. These both just make me feel so happy and they help me express myself. Both activities are kind of an “escape” from reality if I ever need it! If I had to choose between the two, I would choose movies but it’s a really close call. A non materialistic one would be my family of course. I literally cannot live without them, they mean the world to me.

Who is your hero and why?

I have WAY too many heroes so I’ll do one from every category. Personal, famous, and fictional. 1. Personal: my mom. She is so strong and the best person I know. She is my best friend. She helped/helps me through everything and I couldn’t pay her back even if I tried. I am so thankful for her! 2. Famous: Audrey Hepburn!! (Are we surprised?) I love her so much. She was so kind, articulate, smart, talented, beautiful on the inside and out. She was elegant and so well respected. She is everything that I aspire to be! I want to be just like her, but in my own way. I hope to be this generation’s Audrey Hepburn 🙂 3. Fictional. I have a lot of fictional, but I’ll stick with the girl power theme. Peggy Carter! She’s an MCU character from the 40s. I think I was drawn to her because of the 40s theme, but she is just an amazing character. She is strong, confident, and doesn’t take crap from anyone! She is one of my favorite heroes and I admire her so much. I hope to be like her too! My favorite quote from her is “I know my value, anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.” I want to follow this quote every day!

Fads come and go all the time. What’s something that is currently in style, but actually makes them look ridiculous?

Oh Lord. One of the worst trends for me right now is those “dad” tennis shoes. I hate them. But for me, if someone likes something, they should wear it and I’m not going to judge. Style is a personal expression and something that is individual to each and every one of us, so who am I to judge? (But I just would not wear them. Or Birkenstock’s ….. ew 😂)

What is your spirit animal and why?

Hmmm I guess cats. I don’t know if I really have a “spirit animal” but I love cats so much. I feel like if I were a specific animal, it would be my cat. He’s so weird and cute and does the funniest things. But he actually acts like a dog so I guess I’m the cat-dog.

Would you rather be the best player on a horrible team or the worst player on a great team?

I’m not sure, I guess best player on a horrible team. Maybe I could help train or motivate the rest of the team so we could be better! Or we could just be horrible and have fun.

Have you ever? Answer any or all that apply. Worn clothing with the tags still on? Hitchhiked? Bungee jumped? Been a third wheel on a date? Eaten an exotic food? Been trapped in an elevator?

Yes, I’ve worn clothes with the tags on. Sometimes not purposeful. Hitchhiked, no way and never! Too many horror stories and I’m paranoid. Not bungee jumped but I would LOVE to. Been a third wheel, no. I’ve eaten a few exotic foods! I’m the kind of person that likes to try everything (if it is okay for my colitis). Been trapped in an elevator, no and HOPEFULLY never. That’s one of my biggest fears.

What is the funniest thing that happened to you recently?

I think something funny happens to me everyday, but my favorite funny thing recently has been my mood after I drink caffeine. I normally drink decaf coffee but lately I’ve been trying caffeinated. And I am so hyper and crazy when I do drink caffeinated. The weirdest mood ever. But I think I’m my happiest when I’m high on coffee, it’s pretty fun. Another funny thing is just how my family acts with each other. We watched Halloweentown last night and we made fun of it the whole time. I didn’t remember how weird and unintentionally funny that movie was. We laughed at everything from their facial expressions to just their phrasing. My brother was literally rolling on the floor laughing. It was so much fun lol.

What are you most proud of from high school?

There are a few things in proud of! 1. I am working towards my Associates degree, so I have taken mostly dual enrollment classes. This work load has been super hard and super stressful at times. But I somehow am making it through! I am super proud of myself for all of the work I put in and how well I did. It hasn’t been easy, but it was well deserved and well worth it. Hopefully I will graduate high school with an associates degree or if not, then I at least will have SO many college credits to start with! 2. I have come so far with my health these past few years. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in around February of 2016. I struggled all through high school with probably 10+ hospital stays (I lost count). It was extremely hard and looking back, heartbreaking to think about. I honestly can’t even believe all that I’ve been through (literally tearing up writing this lol). I’m so proud of myself and how strong I am. I know I can get through ANYTHING. And I am so grateful that I had my amazing family to help me through all of this. I couldn’t have done it without them. 3. Since I was very sick, I decided to do online school. This gave me a lot of alone time, which actually turned into isolation. I had/have fears because of my health issues so I just isolated myself. This was good and bad. It actually helped me to find who I am and what I want in life. I am so much stronger (mentally and physically). I know so much about myself and feel “wiser” because of these experiences. Like I said, I’m so proud of myself and I love the person I am! I can’t wait to see myself grow more. (Ps I know this is a bit personal, but nothing is TMI with me! You don’t have to use it all, but use whatever you want :). )

What are your plans after graduation?

I am honestly not sure at this point. Most likely I will go to UL and take a year to just figure things out! I am graduating high school with a TON of college credits and possibly an associates degree so I’m way ahead. I can afford to take a “lazy” year without losing any time. So i think it’d be fun to just take a chill year and figure my goals and priorities out. Plus it would be great for my stress! I can just take some fun classes since most of the boring freshman classes are already out of the way!

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

My ideal answer would be: a traveling actress. I would like to still live around here, but be able to travel to the most fun places and act. I would like to be successful or on the road to successful with acting. I would also really like to be able to call myself “healthy,” “happy,” and “content.” Healthy is a big one, because i think 5 years would be enough time for me to get better with my health issues. But I would also love to say I’m happy and content with where I am at. Call me in 5 years and we shall see!
